UNO No Mercy cards and what they mean
Every UNO No Mercy card explained one by one: what it does, how many are in the deck, and when to play it. Counts are from Mercy's deck, which you can try free against bots.
- Skip Everyone: skip every opponent and play again.
- Discard All: discard every card of that color from your hand.
- Colored +4: the next player draws 4 unless they stack an equal or higher draw card. It has to match the color.
- Wild Reverse +4: reverses direction and the previous player draws 4 (with 2 players it comes back to you).
- Wild +6: the next player draws 6 unless they stack a +6 or +10.
- Wild +10: the next player draws 10 unless they stack another +10.
- Wild Color Roulette: the next player picks a color and draws until that color shows up.
- 7 and 0: the 7 swaps your hand with an opponent's; the 0 passes every hand along.
- 25 cards: whoever reaches 25 cards is out (the Mercy Rule).
How many cards are in the deck
- Base deck: 164 cards (140 colored cards and 24 wilds).
- With the expansion: 188 cards.
- With Chaos cards: up to 12 more wilds (up to 200 with everything on).
The official boxed game has 168 cards, so counts can differ slightly from the box.
Colored cards
There are four colors: red, blue, green and yellow. Each color has these cards:
| Card | Count | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Numbers 0–9 | 80 (2 of each number per color) | Match by color or number. 7 and 0 swap hands under the 7-0 rule. |
| Skip 🚫 | 12 | The next player loses their turn. |
| Reverse ⇄ | 12 | Changes direction. With 2 players it works like a Skip. |
| Discard All 🗑️ | 12 | Discard every card of that color from your hand at once. |
| +2 | 8 | The next player draws 2 unless they stack an equal or higher draw card. |
| Skip Everyone ⦸ | 8 | Skip every opponent and play again. |
| Colored +4 | 8 | A +4 that has to match the color: it is not a wild. |
No Mercy wild cards
Wilds can be played on anything and let you choose the next color.
| Card | Count | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Wild Reverse +4 ⇄+4 | 8 | Reverses direction and adds +4. With 3 or more players the previous player takes it. With 2 players it comes back to you: stack another draw card to send it back. |
| Wild +6 | 4 | The next player draws 6 or stacks a +6 or +10. |
| Wild +10 | 4 | The biggest penalty in the base deck. Only another +10 answers it. |
| Wild Color Roulette 🎯 | 8 | The next player names a color and draws until a card of that color shows up. Every card they draw is shown to the table. |
Expansion cards
In Mercy these come in with the Cards + Coins rule:
| Card | Count | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 10 Play Again | 8 | Colored card: you play again. |
| Wild Discard All | 8 | Pick a color and discard every card of that color. |
| Wild Reverse +8 ⇄+8 | 4 | Like the Reverse +4, but adds +8. |
| Final Attack ☠️ | 2 | Reveal your action cards: the next player draws that many. With 7 or more, they draw 25. |
| Sudden Death ⚰️ | 2 | Everyone, you included, draws up to 24 cards: one card from elimination. |
The expansion also adds two coins each player can use once per game: the Mercy coin (discard your hand and draw 7, and it saves you automatically if you reach 25) and the No Mercy coin (your next penalty counts double).
Chaos cards (only in Mercy)
Wilds made for Mercy that you switch on one by one when setting up a game:
- Communist ☭: every hand is pooled and dealt out evenly.
- Equivalent Exchange ⚗️: each opponent gives you a card, you hand one back, and everyone draws +1.
- Absolute Reverse ⟲: sends a draw card, a Roulette or a Final Attack back to whoever played it.
- Absolute Skip ⛔: passes a draw card, a Roulette or a Final Attack to the next player.
- Copy 📋: copies one of the last 3 special cards played.
Tips for playing your cards
- Hold the +10 to end a penalty chain: nothing beats it.
- Play Discard All when you have lots of one color: you can dump five or six cards at once.
- Play a 7 when an opponent has few cards and you have many.
- With Color Roulette your opponent picks the color, so play it when they already have a big hand.
